In December of 2006, co-founders Lauren and Cheryle Podgorski started Princess & the Prom after reading about a similar organization in San Francisco called the Princess Project. Lauren, a high school student at the time, and her mother, Cheryle, enlisted the help of five more mother/daughter teams. Granby Memorial High School generously offered to sponsor the project.
The organizers had a dream that every Connecticut girl would be able to feel like a princess on the night of their prom. And so it all began...dresses were collected, a venue selected and the First Annual Gown Giveaway Event took place on March 31, 2007. Each year, Princess & the Prom helps more and more girls get the FREE dress of their dreams!
Princess & the Prom, Inc. is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) corporation and all donations are tax deductible.
